Do 5 Month Old Kittens Sleep A Lot

I asked myself this question repeatedly when skimbles was growing up.
Do 5 month old kittens sleep a lot. Here s what you should be thinking about with a 5 month old kitten. It is a lot. Is there a problem if my kitten 5 months old is sleeping more than usual in a day. Although felines in general are rather sleep happy creatures baby kittens take things to another level.
You may also notice your plump kitty is becoming a lean mean cat machine. Your cuddly kitten is about to get a heavy injection of teenage hormones. Engage your kitten in playtimes spread throughout the day to tire her out if you plan on catching a full eight hours of sleep. Many cats will sleep at least 12 hours and many probably sleep closer to 16 18 hours a day.
First things first as you prob know you don t own a cat a cat owns you in other words they will do as they please lol i only have 2 cats now but at one time had 4 i have got 5 kittens at the moment they are almost 1 week old if a cat kitten is tired they will sleep in sock draws anywhere they don t care they will follow you round if there something wrong but where sleep is conserned they will. Though it may not appear so while your new kitten has peacefully nodded off his body is hard at work. Sleep also helps strengthen a kitten s nervous system so without enough sleep your kitten might be more vulnerable to getting sick or developing an infection. Cats sleep a lot.
Hi thanks for your email. Kittens have well deserved reputations as being vibrant and unstoppable little balls of energy and while that certainly is often true they also have a side to them that is totally different the sleepy side. As kittens mature beyond the newborn stage they will sleep less. Cats unlike some of the answers on here are actually crepuscular not noctournal.
No matter what website i went to they all spit out the same answer. But even at six months of age they still manage to spend about 16 to 20 hours a day dozing and dreaming away. As far as if it is a problem i d look at the sleep patterns in conjunction with your kittens. Kittens at this age depending on personal character and preferences sleep between 16 and 20 hours.
Why so much sleep. Once your kitten gets a little older the amount of time each day spend sleeping will decrease but even at around six months your kitten will likely be sleeping anywhere from 16 to 20 hours a day. I asked it of google many many times as well.
