You may be able to see a permanent tooth coming in right behind the corresponding loose primary tooth since these two processes of erupting and shedding happen almost simultaneously. Their kitten teeth also referred to as primary milk or deciduous teeth and then their permanent or adult teeth. Kittens lose these baby teeth shortly after their eruption as they are only the temporary deciduous teeth that are meant to be replaced with permanent adult set of teeth.

A kitten generally starts losing teeth at 3 months around the time her adult incisors begin to slowly grow in. Unfortunately if adult cats loose their teeth they will not grow back. But if you notice any signs of trouble it is good to seek a vet s advice. By the time a kitten hits about 6 months old she usually has all 30 of her adult teeth.

Around three weeks of age their kitten teeth will begin to erupt. Kittens start losing their baby teeth around 9 weeks of age and from that time until their adult teeth are fully grown in at 5 to 6 months you can count on lots of chewing action. Somewhere between three and four months old a kitten begins shedding its primary teeth as the adult teeth begin pushing through the gums behind them. A kitten will have all of their adult teeth between 6 to 9 months provided there are no complications.

Normally there is no cause for alarm when your kitten is teething. They shed off their baby teeth and grow a permanent set which they maintain till adulthood. No they do not. Cats begin losing their baby teeth at around 12 weeks or 3 months.
